This book aims to be valuable for anyone considering launching or building a business. While some sections will be particularly helpful for those with tech-oriented ventures, most insights shared here apply to anyone looking to build a multi-disciplinary business requiring external financing.
Launching a business has become the ultimate goal for many young professionals with just a few years of work experience. It's also attracting a growing number of seasoned professionals who've spent most of their careers in large, established corporations. I was one of those.
Among all potential entrepreneur segments, we're the least prepared. Our generation's career goal was to join established companies quickly and climb the corporate ladder. Entrepreneurship wasn't really on our radar. As a result, we weren't (or at least, I wasn't) prepared for the challenges of defining, building, and growing a business—often with very little money in the bank.
We often lack the necessary mindset, agility, and open-mindedness. We're hindered by bad habits developed over ten or fifteen years in corporate environments. We've become accustomed to a level of comfort, slowness, and waste that can make the transition to becoming a business owner extremely difficult, if not impossible.
This book is designed to help you navigate this transition by providing insights on how to tackle the many challenges you'll face as an entrepreneur in the making.
